The duration of relationship, frequency of contact and changes of relationship using network partners of the BASE participants were assessed with items adapted from the Social Networks in Adult Life Questionnaire (Kahn & Antonucci, 1980). Participants were asked to give the following details about each network partner mentioned: Gender, age, place, frequency of contact (in time 1: nine point scale; 1 = never, 9 = daily; at time 2 and 3: five point scale; 1 = not at all, 5 = very often) and change in the relationship over the last five years (3 point scale; 1 = stayed the same, 2 = got worse, 3 = improved).

Literature: Smith & Baltes, 1996, 1999; Wagner, Schütze, & Lang, 1996, 1999; Schütze & Lang, 1993.
